I don't know what my fingers were thinking when they volunteered me to head the yearbook, but I do believe they knew I was capable of taking on such a huge project. After that first staff meeting, yearbook was actually the last thing on my mind. (Hard to imagine, I know!) It wasn't until October when I received a PM from the amazing Jenna Hathaway volunteering to be the other head that the gears started turning.
Yes, that was when my yearbook obsession began. I started combing through everything and anything that had to do with Ravenclaw - the Roost, Alte Sententiam, Ravenclaw Library, HOL Wiki, Quidditch Match logs. Needless to say, 10 years of history is, well, 10 years of history. I did a lot of copying and pasting and recopying and repasting to try to get organized. When Jenna and I narrowed down the main sections, we began our search for yearbook staff members.
I was extremely touched by all the eagles who wanted to get involved. All the oldbies providing memories (both with and without prodding)... Brand new eaglets who wanted to find out more about HOL Ravenclaw... Even a recent Squib to Ravenclaw!
While Jenna was vacationing around Christmastime, I received a nice holiday blessing by the name of Arnora Eleniel. Earlier, Nora and Akira Yamada had helped us out with picking a Latin name for the yearbook. Now, Nora literally wanted to make all the Superlatives graphics! Her enthusiasm spread to me, since I started to make some graphics (and got hooked). Nora also volunteered to write some articles. I loved our PM conversations and was slightly shocked when she decided to become a Squib. I miss you tons, Nora, and your work will always be in the Ravenclaw Yearbook!
Well, I had a blast! I managed to brush up on some html and fought quite a bit with WordPress. (Luckily, Weebly was a bit kinder to me.) It was incredible to continue to find random links to HOL Ravenclaw hidden on the internet. I must apologize for my excessive poking, especially to Jenna, Rhi, Cassie, and... Jenna XD. I did learn that I can only send a message to five people in a Roost PM. Thank you all for responding in a timely fashion... most of the time. Don't be too upset when you don't see my name as much in the Perch ;)
From a World Map to Memories to Activities found Around the Roost, always remember Ex Memoria Scientia.
