Once upon a time on HOL there was a woman who became a legend. The first Head of House for Ravenclaw, Prof. Willow Laffengraff (nicknamed “Laffy”) was a valuable member of Ravenclaw and HOL while she was here. Unlike many professors today, she was never an HOL student, but she was one of the first HOLers, coming over to the new shiny site from HPGalleries, 10 years ago. Therefore, she was the HOL equivalent of Rowena Ravenclaw, our House’s namesake.
In addition to boosting the morale of the Ravenclaw students, if ever their outlook was bleak, she was active throughout HOL. Classes-wise, Prof. Laffengraff primarily taught Handwriting Analysis. She also co-taught House Elves 101 with our current beloved Head of House, Prof. Rhiannon Llewellyn. As Head of House, Laffy was part of the Head Office, but somehow she still found time to write for Alte Sententiam when it still had on its training wheels. Finally, she helped to make the Roost a fun and friendly environment by creating many exciting activities for members of her House.
Prof. Laffengraff was an extremely active, vibrant, and generous member of the Ravenclaw community, and is greatly missed by the 'oldbies' of the House. According to 7th year student, Akira Yamada, “She just was there whenever you needed her, always accessible, everyone loved her.” Due to the strong foundation of her guidance and kindness in the early years of HOL, our House has succeeded in living up to her motto of “Pride, Honesty, Integrity.”

There is no end to the positive things I could say about Kyrie Adderholt. We underwent prefect training together, along with Gustavo Flores, and she immediately befriended both of us. Running Ravenclaw’s activities with her is more play than work, and one cannot find a more reliable teammate or friend. Always willing to help, she has endured her fair share of pestering from me about mIRC. Kyrie is a phenomenal quidditch player, wise co-captain, tireless prefect, diligent student, and one of the greatest friends anyone could ask for.

My favourite part of HOL/Ravenclaw is whenever Arielle Lemoyne typos something. The End. Actually, one of my best friends I made on HOL is that girl. She’s the nicest person you’ll ever meet (Even though she says weird stuff like 'pop' instead of 'soda', and she typos like every other word, and the fact she spells her last name wrong. If you don’t get it, don’t ask). But even still some of my best memories of HOL/Ravenclaw are when Arielle is in the room. Her typos of entire sentences and trying to decode what it says. The arguments over 'soda' or whatever she says that is COMPLETELY wrong. The fact that just the other day I realized I have been spelling her last name wrong for over 2 years now. We just have some many differences it makes us the best of friends. We are always finding stuff to laugh about and poke fun at each other. There are just so many memories that I could sit and tell, but I don’t have the attention span to tell them all because I might just miss another Arielle typo!

I would like to say something about Scarlets, Scarlet Irisa and Scarlet Leslie.
Scarlet Irisa is a great person, she helped me a lot, and she had a lot of patience with me (really, if you want to be my friend you WILL need A LOT of patience), she introduced me to the RPG world, she also has been so friendly and kind to me, despite anything I did, as I like to say to myself she is my 'Hangman buddy'! I dare to say that she is MY best HOL friend, I hope she thinks something similar about me, even if she has not even the half of the reasons I wrote to think so about me...
Prof. Scarlet Leslie, a person with nerves of a dragon (I will come later to that part) - I met Scarlet for the first time when I sent in my Art Appreciation homework, nothing special - but, I finished her whole class in 10 days, and I actually started to REFER to her, I needed two points to earn 300 points, so she gave me the link to class evaluation - I started to like her, she was very friendly, we were in the same BBO team. Now to the nerves of dragon part - again I need to say who wants to be my friend will need a lot of patience, and she had it, I was as boring as a fly - especially on IRC, she had so much patience, she was so wonderful to me. Now we are working on a top secret, all three of us Scarlets and me... maybe you'll be a part of that secret... soon...

Perhaps one of my most vivid memories of HOL could better be said as being from "Old HOL", since it is from the sad time when our beloved first Head of House, Willow Laffengraff, adoringly known as Laffy, first announced she was leaving us. I remember my email to her, saying something like "You made your nest, please stick with it." Of course, Laffy had given many years to Ravenclaw and HOL in their incipient years. This period was incredibly memorable not just because Laffy said she was going to leave, but that first round of e-owl plees resulted in Laffy sticking around for a while longer. There was much butterbeer and muffins going around.
Unfortunately, real life won out even for our illustrious leader, and Laffy announced that she was really going to leave. No owls could persuade her to stick around, but she did promise dropping in from time to time. I never considered myself heavily entrenched in HOL or even Ravenclaw, but Laffy had been a great mentor, and hopefully friend. As a young teen, I knew that I would not be able to keep in touch if she was not always around the Roost. These thoughts affected me so much that I have a rather vivid memory of a dream of the front page of the then Roost on RapidForums, featuring a portrait of Laffy with the words "In Memoriam" and her tenure years. I wish that I had never lost contact with her, but Willow Laffengraff is perhaps the single greatest memory of my early years in HOL and inspiration for continuing to come back. I just wanted to leave a memory of a great time in Ravenclaw history, and a note about an inspirational woman.
