Memories - HOL
Well, last February I received my letter from HOL: I didn't believe in it. I couldn't be a witch, but HOL revealed me the opposite! Firstly I went to Diagon Alley and I bought all equipment need (and I bought my wand! My wonderful and unique wand: 10.75" Mahogany and Kelpie Mane Hair!) and then I went to King's Cross where I caught the Hogwarts Express from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters at 11 o'clock.
It was a sunny day when I arrived here and I was so scared: there were a lot of people (and I didn't know anyone), exciting classes (but I didn't know which one choose)… But I met some beautiful people who had helped me in order to find the right way.
At HOL I found some old friends, but I met a lot of new people! Some of them are helping me in order to do some of my homework, others help me to make choices and do things well. In RL, I can meet two of them in a very easy way (they stay in my same country and not far from my town!), but I'd like to meet all of my friends (from Japan or US, from UK or China, from Iceland or the Moon, it's not important!) because I will learn more about the world, about other cultures and I will learn more languages (and this is important!)

I remember once at the start of this year, I was in the RPG channel with Desmond Warren and Michael Boot (Who have both mysteriously disappeared) and I went a bit hyper on sugar. And using the /me command, I would hide under the sofa and start throwing water balloons around the channel. The three of us would have either a water or paint war and it would be great fun until one of us died from a deadly water balloon :)

My first year in HOL was also the first year that HOL was open. Classes, points, and advancements had not been nailed down, and I was just a kid. The only class I took that first year was Astronomy, taught by Prof. Angelia Oort. She was a good professor, but the class did not take the scientific approach that Astronomy at HOL takes now. This scientific approach was what I was hoping for when I signed up for the class, and only that class. I ended up only doing the first assignment, then worth only 30 points for the whole month. Slowly I became less and less active that year, until I stopped posting in the forums altogether. When June came, I was flabbergasted to find that I had graduated to Year 2. Apparently, you only needed to pass one class, and apparently you only needed 30 points to pass that one class. Looking back on that, I sometimes wish I had not been passed that year, but if I had not, I might have looked on it as a sign that I should not "bother" with HOL. Ultimately, I am glad I was given that one more shot because HOL has grown in me from that year to become an integral part of my life. Fortunately, first impressions are not the only impressions.
