Birthdays

The current Birthday sub-forum grew up out of less official threads in the Common Room, where well-wishers could congratulate their friends on another year survi—er, achieved. Before there was a dedicated section of the Roost for birthdays, HOL was only an inkling of what it is now. At one time, there were so few birthdays each month that a computer novice with MS Paint, Word, and a mouse could create “Happy Birthday” banners with the hand-written name of every eagle with a birthday in that month! Try doing that now and you will have to imitate Picasso or Jackson Pollock. The sub-forum's current rules were established in mid-2007, and since then this forum has achieved moderate levels of attention from the Ravenclaw student body.
In order for a birthday to appear in the Birthday forum, every eagle desiring so needs to post their birth date (or their character's birthday!) in the appropriate thread. This is a great place to receive a little love from your fellow eagles on that special day of the year (not to mention several days afterward as well!) The Birthday sub-forum (shall we call it a mini party?) shows eagles that even in a community of over 10,000 people from around the world, there is a place dedicated solely to them. Any eagle may post birthday wishes to another eagle (or to themselves).
Currently, the lovely Catriona Watson moderates the Birthday forum. Cat took over this responsibility from Leora Lobel around the summer of 2009. The current forum banner was created by the ever-amazing, and sadly absent Conary Barclay. The forum has grown to the point where most every day of the year has at least one eagle birthday, some three or four! So many eagles, and that is only the very few whom have opted to include their birthdays in the forum. For those who have not, it is never too late to get your special day recognized by your House!
